Birthday
Around 3 am the other night, I heard a bang. I hear a very similar noise some nights, but this time it was much louder and I could actually see what was causing it.
I looked out my apartment window to the sight of a car repeatedly ramming into the jewelery shop across the street and men yelling. They left the car and got away on a moped. I woke Andrei, and the police arrived just as I was calling to tell them the details I had seen. I really never thought the first robbery I'd see would be in the country where I feel safest.
Anyway, local news has covered it better than I can, so I'll tell you about some more mundane personal things. One being that I have finally got my tacos tasting similar to how I always used to make them. This may sound small but this was like the one thing I could somewhat confidently say I'm good at, and it saves quite a lot of money, since nobody seems to get tired of tacos. I can also happily say I've gone out a bit more since last post, and it's been pretty fun, despite nothing interesting happening. It's just nice to get out. I did end up staying awake for something like 48 hours, partially in the hopes that I could go to bed at a normal time, which I did. Unfortunately I'm now writing this at midnight so that didn't last long.
Oh yeah, it was my birthday earlier.
I had no idea until Andrei told me, and gave me a Nijntje book and plushie. I usually don't feel any different on birthdays, but I can already tell it will be a while before I stop accidentally telling people the wrong age.
